It is important that the size of your cane is proper for you. The most crucial dimension is its height at the handgrip (see A, below). Your canes will come in one of four lengths: CHILD - 26" (66 cm), SHORT - 31" (79 cm), MEDIUM - 35" (89 cm), or LONG 39" (99 cm) and you will need to cut the bottom to precisely fit your size and the style of your walking (you can order a cutting kit with your canes, or use your own tool, such as a metal cutting blade).
You need to adjust the overall length (A) to your own preferences (as a rule of thumb, when you stand tall with your current crutch at your side, and allow your hand to drape over the handgrip of your crutch - the crease between your palm and your wrist should line up with the top surface of the hand grip).
The distance from the handgrip to the top of the cuff (see B, on the left) is determined not only by your height but also by your preferences and the need for support. If you are tall, the B segment should obviously be longer. In general, the longer the B segment, the more stable you will feel but, that may be at the expense of how easy it will be for you to get in and out of your cane, reach for objects, etc. Usually, if you do not need a lot of support and you are not very tall, then the shorter the B segment, the easier to use and "lighter" your cane may feel. Taller users should still use longer canes: The distance from the top of the cuff to your elbow should never be longer than 5-6" (especially if you are not very tall). The length of the B segment in the CHILD canes is 8" (20 cm), in SHORT canes is 8" (20 cm), in MEDIUM canes it is 8" (20 cm) and in LONG ones it is 10" (25 cm).

As mentioned above, the height at the handgrip (the A dimension) needs to be precisely adjusted by cutting the cane. The handgrip-cuff distance (the B dimension) cannot be adjusted.
If your weight exceeds 220 lb (100 kg), or you believe that there is something unusual about your needs (e.g., you normally put an extremely large weight on the canes as you walk), please contact us (we may offer an extra thick model, or other options).
